Trans Day of Visibility & Getting to KNOW Violet Carmody
Here’s what Violet would like you to know about her. She sees herself as a person first and a transgender person second. Yes, you can ask her questions about what it means to be a transgender youth, as long as you take the time to get to know her as a person, ideally before then.
March 31, 2025 is International Trans Day of Visibility
Today, I talk to Violet about the International Trans Day of Visibility and some of the efforts we’re both making to raise awareness. In case you didn’t know, both Violet and Bill Carmody are Unitarian Universalists and today we held our youth-led service. Below is a recording of the service if you are interested in hearing us both speak to our congregation along with many other incredible youth, many who are transgender and all support the rights of transgender people.
Today in our UUCSR Youth Service, we raise money for the Trevor project and explain why this is the same cause we will be raising money for during our keynote at Google Ireland. Thanks to the efforts of the Google Pride group, all donations raised during our keynote on July 4, 2025 will be matched by Google.
And what Violet Carmody wants you to know more than anything is who she is as a person … not solely as a transgender person. In episode 11 of our podcast, Violet shares her favorite book series, RE Zero, which was introduced to both of us by Will Carmody (Violet’s brother). Violet then shares about her current favorite show on Apple TV, Severance, and why she loves this psychological thriller.
And yes, if you are hosting us during our World Tour (June 2025 to 2026), then Violet would love to learn a bit about YOU. She realizes most people we’ll be meeting are my friends from around the world and she’s excited to get to know you. What’s your favorite book(s), movies, tv series, music and activities? We are both excited to get to know you better and are just three months away from the beginning of our World Tour. So exciting!
